Abstract

The method of calculation proposed in the present study is based on the solution of two-dimensional boundary-value problems of the given class through the use of spline approximation and colocation in one coordinate direction and, in the other direction, the solution of a unidimensional boundary-value problem by the numerical method of discrete orthogonalization. This method makes it possible to obtain a sufficiently accurate solution to the problem tbr a shallow cylindrical shell with complex types of edge support -- particularly, with fixing of the contour. The solution presented here is for a shallow cylindrical shell under a transverse load with rigid attachment of all sides. We also study the stress-strain state in relation to the degree of shallowness.
