Abstract
This paper presents the study of the resonance effect of electric inductive-capacitive (ELC) resonator in multiband resonant absorbers (MRA) for single-, double- and triple-band operation. The modification of the ELC resonator is made by adding extra square loops onto the ELC baseline resonator to introduce resonance modes. The MRA configuration is based on a high impedance surface using a 2D ELC array parallel to a blank metal surface separated by a thin FR4 slab. The response of the MRAs based on proposed ELC resonators is studied to examine resonant absorption at the microwave frequency band. The absorption process originates from the near-field interference and the coupling behavior of the modified ELC structure. The investigation of the single-, double- and triple-band resonant absorber is made by studying the resonance behavior in selected dimensions of the square loop elements. The simulated results of the design work show the characteristics of the resonant absorptions over the frequency band of 5-15 GHz.
