Abstract
Objective To investigate the value of electromyO gram(EMG) and nerve conduction veloc-ity(NCV) in the diagnosis of polymyositis(PM) and detmatomyositis(DM). Methods EMG of 30 patient with PM and DM were analyzed including fibrillation, mean duration of MUP, mean amplitude of MUP, polyphasic, re-cruitment pattern of maximum voluntary contraction, NCV and muscle biopsies. Results Of 25 patients with ab-normal EMG,5 patients had slower NCV,3 patients had longer distal latency. Conclusion EMG and NCV are valuable in diagnosing PM and DM. Key words: Polymyositis ; Dermatomyositis ; Electromyogram ; Electroneurogram
