Abstract

We heated Bi2Sr2CaCu2Oy(BSCCO) single crystals at various temperatures in air, Ar gas and O2 gas, and investigated their surface states by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS). From the results, we found that the Cu valence and the contents of Sr occupying Sr and Ca sites in BSCCO single crystals were affected by the atmosphere of heat-treatments.
