Abstract

We prepared Bi2Sr2CaCu2Oy (BSCCO) single crystals by a vertical Bridgman method. From the results, we found that the plate-like BSCCO single crystal with the maximum size of 25 × 5mm2 was a (2212) single-phase. The large size BSCCO single crystals were obtained when the pulling down rate, the temperature for melting, the content of starting materials and the bottom angle of crucibles were lmm/h, 985°C, 50g and 60°, respectively.
