Abstract

Aim of this work intense to find tribological behavior of the AA8085 composites fabricated through stir casting technique. Experiments were carry out using wear test (pin on disc) by controlling different parameters namely sliding speed (m/s), load (N) and sliding distance (m). Aluminium alloy Metal Matrix Composites (AA8050) considered for this work as base material with reinforced of AA8050 and 5 wt% and 10 wt% of Si3N4. Wear rate of AA8050 matrix composites are improved by the occurrence of different weight percentage of reinforcements. Taguchi optimization route with orthogonal array is involved to this work for evaluates the parameters influence. This work concentrates on priority of factors which affects and enhances the tribological behavior of the fabricated composites. Increasing of Si3N4 reinforced percentage moderately reduced the wear arte of the composites.
