Abstract

The complexes Cs[PtX 3(NO 2)(NH 3)] (where X = Br or I) have been shown by photoelectron spectroscopy, optical and X-ray studies to be Class II halogen-bridged mixed valence compounds. They behave as semiconductors between 0 and 60°C and their electrical conduction properties are compared with those of other mixed valence complexes of platinum.
