Abstract

Basalt is an extrusive volcanic rock, which is easily obtainable. Basalt fibres are called biologically inactive, non-toxic and eco-friendly materials. Using fibres in concrete gives rise to fibre-reinforced concrete which is known to increase the mechanical properties and durability properties of the concrete. In this study the effect on the durability properties of High strength Self Compacting concrete are analysed by subjecting the specimens to an Acidic environment like Hydrochloric acid (HCL), Nitric acid (HNO3) and Sulfuric acid (H2SO4), and in a Base environment like Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH), Sodium Sulphate (Na2SO4), Magnesium Sulphate (MgSO4), in 5% concentration of each, with 3 different aspect ratio viz., 350, 530 and 600, with a dosage of 0.2% by the volume of concrete and then the properties such as mechanical, dimensional stability and mass loss were determined.
