Studies on Preparation of Sample Solution for Simultaneous Determination of 9 Carbamate and 12 Organophosphorus Pesticides in Agricultural Products

Abstract

A method for preparation of sample solution suitable for simultaneous determination of 21 kinds of organophosphorus and carbamate pesticides in agricultural products by FPD and FTD-GC was studied. The residual limits of these pesticides in agricultural products will be legally restricted within this fiscal year in Japan.Two preparation methods of sample solution were simply and systematically set up according to the degree of food contaminants in sample. For general vegetables and fruits, no special clean-up method was used, and for cabbage, cereals and beans, zinc acetate was used for clean-up (solidification method) of the sample solution.Organophosphorus pesticides spiked at 0.2ppm and carbamate pesticide spiked at 0.4ppm in 11 kinds of samples gave recoveries in the range of 60.4-105.2% by the proposed method.Surveillance for 21 kind of residual pesticides in imported foods was carried out, and 49ppb of malathion and 55ppb of carbofuran were found in wheat (USA) and in lemon (USA), respectively.
