Abstract

Australian Atherigona are revised. Earlier records of the genus in Australia are summarized, and its economic importance there is discussed. The genus is described, and a key is given to the Australian species, all of which are redescribed and fully illustrated. Thirty species are included, of which 16 are newly recorded from Australia. Twelve new species are described: beta, collessi, cryptica, epsilon, ferrari, flava, hennigi, hirtitarsis, nitida, occulta, rho and theta. A. samoaensis Malloch, 1929, is a new junior synonym of oryzae Malloch, 1925. *Part VI, Aust. J. Zool., Suppl. Ser., 1974, No. 33.
