Abstract
The subterranean termite Macrotermes gilvus Hagen is a species of termite that can build solid nests on the ground. Its model and architecture are said to have an intricate design and a good air conditioning system. The unique architecture of the nest can attract writers to conduct detailed research. Study on the nest of M. gilvus Hagen (Isoptera: Termitidae) was conducted by observing the longitudinal and transverse slices of the nest. Nest patterns were identified based on three categories, namely small, medium and large nests. The results show that the shape and architecture of the nest is an adaptation of the termite nest to the living environment. Nest components found include nest wall, vent, nest center, mushroom comb, soil slab, queen chamber, burrow and nest platform.
