Abstract

The article covers a current situation with formation of general cultural and professional competence of students at an institution of higher education, in general, and of the students’ self-administration leaders, in particular. Based on a study of the Nizhny Novgorod Lobachevsky State University students’ self-administration entities’ activities, the key problems have been outlined and solution experience has been provided in the area, through the systematic project work with the students, as well as goals have been set for the nearest future. The author emphasizes the project and system approach in work with the youth as the principal aspects of the topic. Project activities in terms of formation of some general professional, professional and special competence have been declared in the article as an efficient tool of simulation of some vitally important situations in different areas. The importance of selection of methods of competence formation and their implementation technologies has been underlined. Conclusion has been made on a direct relation between the graduates’ employment level and their participation in a students’ self-administration school during the period of studies. Systematic work with the youth at the institutions of higher education, aimed at the competence formation, has been declared as a major component of the students’ self-administration system enhancement. Interrelation between the youth involvement in the students’ self-administration activities and enhancement of their competence level in the social, economic, managerial areas, increase of their significance for the students’ institutional self-administration and co-administration has been indicated. Formation and development of various types of students’ competence is considered as a major tool of structuring of the university students’ self-administration entities management system.
