Abstract

Translation reception is a necessary path for the development of Chinese literature. In order to provide a clear conceptual framework for understanding translation reception, and to explore the empirical results of audience reactions following rhetorical behaviors, this study took the transformation of parallelism rhetorical devices between Chinese and English languages as research objects, employing the research methodology of grounded theory. The study reveals that the reception can be categorized into three dimensions: cognition, preference, and perceptual. The cognitive dimension refers to whether the audience obtains accurate and precise information and whether the information transmission aligns with the source text, the preference dimension refers to the audience's inclination and the perception dimension refers to the audience's emotional and aesthetic experiences. These dimensions not only reflect the audience's reactions during the process of reading but also provide a qualitative theoretical framework for China's international literature communication with the aspect of translation.
