Abstract

Summary Brewer's yeast tRNAsArgIII were partially cleaved with pancreatic and T1 ribonucleases. Fragments as large as half molecules, cleaved at the anticodon site, were obtained. Information provided by analyses of these fragments allowed the determination of the total sequence of the two tRNAsArgIII. They differ by two nucleotides : one in position 6 from the 5′ terminal end and one in position 4 from the 3′ terminal end. These tRNAsArgIII are composed of 75 nucleotide residues including 12 minor nucleotides. The structure of one of them, a derivative of U, localised at the wobble position remains to be determined. The sequence of the anticodon is xU-C-U. It is followed at the 5′ position by a t6A. The structure of tRNAsArgIII has been compared to those of tRNAArgII and tRNALys from yeast and to that of tRNAArgI from E. coli in order to get some informations about possible recognition sites for yeast arginyl -tRNA synthetase.
