Abstract

Structural, magnetic and magnetotransport properties of Pr 0.7Ba 0.3MnO 3 and Pr 0.7Ba 0.2□ 0.1MnO 3 samples have been investigated. Powder samples have been elaborated by the conventional ceramic method at 1400°C. The rietveld analysis of the X-ray diffraction shows that the samples crystallize in the orthorhombic perovskite system with Pnma space group. The investigated samples exhibit a ferromagnetic to paramagnetic transition with increasing temperature. The presence of the vacancy in structure leads to decrease in the Curie temperature as well as the spontaneous magnetization. At low temperature, a magnetic applied field induced a decrease of the resistivity. The magnetoresistance is about 72% at 110 K under a magnetic field up to 6 T, and it is about 13% at 300 K for Pr 0.7Ba 0.2□ 0.1MnO 3.
