Abstract

We investigate the physical properties of chromium doped perovskite manganites Pr 0.5Sr 0.5Mn 1− x Cr x O 3 (0.0≤ x≤0.3). Powder samples have been elaborated using the conventional ceramic method at 1400 °C. X-ray diffraction patterns showed that all our synthesized samples are single phase and crystallize in the orthorhombic system with Imma space group. With decreasing temperature, our doped samples exhibit a paramagnetic to a spin canted state transition. The Curie temperature T C decreases with increasing chromium content. It is found to decrease from 257 K for x=0.0 to 156 K for x=0.3. The spontaneous magnetization, deduced from the magnetization measurements vs. magnetic applied field, decreases with increasing chromium content.
