Abstract

The conventional melt-quenching method is used to synthesise xSeO2-(30-x) As2O3- 50TeO2–20Na2MoO4 (where × = 0, 10 and 20 mol %) quaternary glass system. By using X-ray diffraction technique it was confirmed that the prepared glass sample has non-crystalline nature. Physical properties like Oxygen packing density (OPD), Density (ρ), Molar volume (Vm), and for all samples Oxygen molar volume (Vo) are determined. Molar volume, Oxygen molar volume and Density of prepared glasses are found to be decreased from 4.46 to 4.42 gm/cm3, 42.189 to 38.693 cm3/mol and 42.002 to 38.499 cm3/mol with increase of SeO2 content (0–20 mol %) respectively. Oxygen packing density (OPD) has shown increasing trend from 64.28 to 64.93 mol/l with increase of SeO2 content. The structural features of the all glasses samples prepared are studied using FT-IR andRaman and the results shows that the network consists of TeO4and TeO3fundamental units along with AsO3pyramidsand SeO32-structural units.
