Abstract

In this paper spin-coating method is used to create copper doped CdS composite thin films on glass substrates. Prepared Cux (CdS)1-x composite thin films, where x=1, 3 and 5 wt% Cu doped, have been characterised using an X-ray Diffractometer (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and UV-Visible spectrometer. These measurements provide the structural, morphological and optical properties of both pure and Cu doped CdS. The XRD pattern was used to examine the crystal structure and grain size of the CdS thin film. The optical spectra show absorption and band gap values of prepared samples. The band gap values have been found between 2.41 to 1.71. The photoluminescence (PL) spect rum emitted a strong peak approximately 430 nm which shows better optical quality for many applications.
