Abstract

Based on ASME-BPVC-VIII-2:2015 and IIW-2008 standards, the stress state assessment method for welded joints of complex welded structures meeting BS EN15058-3 was studied. The stress state grade assessment methods of welded joints under two standards are programmed by using C and APDL language. ASME can not only assess the stress state grade of welded structures without defects, but also evaluate the stress state grade of welded joints considering defects based on test data. Under the fatigue load provided by EN13749 standard, the evaluation method of stress state grade is validated in the design of welding structure of truck frame. The results show that the evaluation method based on IIW-2008 standard is more stringent, and the stress factor of weld seam between cross beam and traction rod seat is the largest, with a value of 0.881, and the stress state grade is "medium". For welded joints with defects, the fatigue life decreases and the stress state grade increases with the increase of the equivalent initial crack of defects. The method has the value in the fatigue resistance design of railway vehicles and other complex products.
