Abstract

This paper discusses the stress and the deformation of a thin circular plate, loaded by an impingement of an underexpanded jet. When the jet impinges on an object the self-excited oscillation of the jet occurs and the object is cooled. If the object is an elastic thin plate, it is deformed and made to vibrate. In order to clarify the influence of self-excited oscillation on the deformation of the plate, pressure, temperature, strain and the deflection on the plate are experimentally measured at the different nozzle-plate distances. Using the experimental results such as the pressure and temperature, the deflection of the plate is analyzed by the finite element method. The analytical results are compared with those obtained by experiment.
