Abstract

The strengthening of competency-based education for medical students is crucial for medical professional education to gain continual development. It helps bring medical education into line with the international standard, deepen the medical education reform, and strengthen the teaching manage-ment and promote the medical education quality. The connotation and characteristics of competency-based education were reported. The background, purposes, and teaching results of the selected course of medical linguistics for a six-year attempt were also reported. Meanwhile, the necessity about offering the course of medical linguistics, the acquisition of learning medical linguistics, and some suggestions made by the students on the improvement of teaching medical linguistics, were reported with students' discourses using qualitative research method.
