Abstract
In recent years, the Professional Drivers Union of the Pallatanga Canton, located in the Province of Chimborazo, has faced a growing demand for the implementation of strategic planning. This need arises with the objective of directing the established goals towards sustainable economic development. This research focuses on the formulation of a Strategic Plan that promotes economic growth and quality improvement in the Union during the period from 2023 to 2027.To carry out this research, a methodology was established that combines qualitative and quantitative approaches. A non-experimental and transversal design was chosen, which allows obtaining information in the real environment without altering the data, within a specific period of time. The population under study was the institution's staff, and field activities were carried out to collect information. The techniques used included interviews directed at the general secretary of the Union, as well as surveys administered to employees. The results obtained revealed that the organization does not have a formal strategic plan. More than half of the employees surveyed are unaware of fundamental aspects such as the mission, vision, values, principles and institutional policies. However, a notable commitment is evident in management focused on the well-being of the Union's collaborators, students and dependents. The main conclusion of the research is that planning within the institution is presented as an informal process, with poorly defined goals. Given this situation, it is proposed to develop a strategic plan that includes various strategies aimed at improving the operational efficiency of the Union. This approach not only seeks internal strengthening, but also the generation of a positive impact on the economic development of the community
