Abstract

The whole world has been hit by the COVID-19 pandemic and this has caused a temporary cessation of various religious activities to curb the menacing virus from spreading. This study aims to examine the strategy used by Perlis Islamic Religious Department (JAIPs) in an attempt to reduce the number of COVID-19 cases in Perlis. The methodology for this study is a qualitative study. This study focuses on a case study conducted at the Office of the Perlis Department of Islamic Religion, Dakwah Division, Kangar, Perlis. Data collection is made through interview and observation methods. The findings of the study show that the Islamic Religious Department of Perlis' strategy in the implementation of religious activities during the spread of COVID-19 in Perlis requires following the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) that have been set when performing religious activities, organising various online activities for all levels of society, and allowing congregants to pray side by side during the Movement Control Order (MCO). It is hoped that the Islamic Religious Department of Perlis will always give their best and that the community will abide by the directions that are set for everyone's well-being.
