Abstract

Meteorological data-generating models were developed that are capable of stochastically generating daily maximum and minimum temperature and total solar radiation data. Data generated from these models were tested against historical records and were found adequate, representing the observed data for 11 of 12 months. Monthly evapotranspiration calculated by using the simulated daily temperature and solar radiation data did not differ statistically from the mean monthly evapotranspiration calculated from historical data. Simulated data such as these, fill the meteorological input data requirements for a variety of hydrologic models now in use.
