Abstract
Methods of analysis of the elastic stiffness properties of fibre composite materials are reviewed. The use of these properties in the analysis of structural composites is outlined. Typical results are presented for composite material properties, for laminate properties and for plate problems in which material stiffness is a significant design criterion. The influence of material design upon structural design is illustrated.
