Abstract
The aim of the present study was to validate some aspects related to the moment of occlusal loading in relation to the success of the implant-prosthetic treatment, statistically analyzing a group of 52 patients. The study material was represented by a group of patients that was divided according to several criteria (age, sex, general state of health, location of the dentition, type of dentition, cause of tooth loss, number of inserted implants, need to perform augmentation of the bone substrate, the type of prosthetic loading performed, years of specialty experience of the surgeons or prosthetists who treated the cases, therapeutic success at 2 years and success at 5 years after loading). Delayed loading was the method that recorded the highest rate of therapeutic success in the analyzed group, at an evaluation made 2 and 5 years after the definitive prosthesis. The rate of therapeutic success was correlated with the experience of the clinicians, regardless of the loading moment. In the present analysis, variables such as the age, gender and general health status of the patients, do not constitute factors influencing the number of inserted implants and the success rate of the implant-prosthetic treatment.
