The amplitude spectrum of the proportional counter was considered and a new probability function of the number of primary ions pairs was analysed. Using the mentioned probability function for describing the primary ionization and the Polya distribution for the gas amplification, the equation of the relative variances of the amplitude spectrum was considered.
