Abstract

Data on four blood samples of examination were obtained from a cumulative total of 1, 083 grazing cattle of the Japanese Shorthorn breed of a cumulative total of 14 herds examined over a period from 1980 to 1982. They were used for the investigation of normality and logarithmic normality of the distribution pattern of these items. In this investigation, the statistically abnormal values of logarithm and anti-logarithm detccted for each item of examination in each herd in the previovs experiment reported were first discarded from the data for analysis to be done in the present experiment. Then the data of examination in each herd were divided into those of logarithm and those of anti-logarithm, and subjected to the follo!ing three tests of normality: a test by the goodness of hit, a test at a degree of deviation of zero and a degree of pointedness of 3, and a test by observation of a normal probability sheet. As a resulo, it was concluded that the blood magnesium concentration and the hematocrit value showed almost a normal pattern of distribution, the blood calcium concentration an approximately normal pattern of distribution, and the leukocyte count almost a logarithmic normal pattern of distribution.
