Abstract

Piezoelectric ceramics are often subjected to heavy loading. Piezoceramic sheets are essential elements of piezoelectric devices. The vibration amplitudes and static capacitances of PZT5 soft piezoelectric discs with Φ10 × 1mm3 and PZT4 hard piezoelectric sheets with 7 × 7 × 0.7mm3 under compressive stress are studied. The experimental results show that the piezoelectric properties of PZT5 are improved within 200 MPa, and PZT4 can withstand stress up to 500 MPa without depolarization. The capacitances of both piezoceramics decrease linearly with increasing compressive stress. And the PZT4 ceramics have the potential of improving work capability significantly under high compressive stress.
