Abstract
A brief description of the state of industry in St. Petersburg is given on the basis of data from open statistical sources. The problem of personnel shortage of enterprises has been fixed, since a significant part of graduates of institutions of higher and secondary vocational education are employed in the service sector. The causes of the problem of staffing the industry of St. Petersburg with young specialists are identified, existing support measures at the city level are analyzed, and an idea is proposed aimed at overcoming the dysfunction between the ecosystem of vocational education and the demands of employers. The essence of the idea is the modernization of the vocational education system in industry, the results of its implementation and the roadmap up to 2030 are described.
