Abstract

SrS:Ce,Cl based thin film electroluminescent devices codoped with Mn were investigated. The EL performance is remarkably improved compared to conventional SrS:Ce,Cl. A luminous efficiency exceeding 1.6 lm/W was achieved. The positive impact of Mn codoping on the crystalline quality of thin films was found to be responsible for the improvements. However, an energy transfer between Ce3+Mn2+, which reduces the radiation efficiency of the Ce3+ emission was detected.
