Abstract

Training for sportsmen is to enhance physical and mental productivity and overall performance of the organizations. This is due to the recognition of the important role of training in the attainment of good health. Consequently, this study investigated the perception of sportsman towards training methods in higher institutions, using Joseph Ayo Babalola University, Nigeria as a case study. Collection of data for the study was effected through the use of questionnaire with a sample size of 263 drawn by stratified random sampling. The data was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The findings show that the perception of 73.88% of the respondents towards training method is pointed towards enhancement of their efficiency in their chosen sport. The study recommends that management of higher institutions must ensure that appropriate training methods for students in sport form the heart of their cardinal mission.
