Abstract

Manpower training for employees is to enhance productivity and overall performance of the organizations. Ampaipipatkul (2004) defined training method as a set of systematic procedures, activities, or techniques that are designed to impart the participants that have direct utility in enhancing their job performance. Consequently, this study investigated the correlate of conventional and contemporary methods of manpower training within the Nigerian training institutional system, using Joseph Ayo Babalola University, Ikeji-Arakeji, Osun State and Centre for Management Development, Lagos as a case study. Collection of data for the study was effected through the use of questionnaire with a sample size of 128 drawn by stratified random sampling. The data was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The findings of the study shows that the views of majority of the respondents towards the correlate of conventional and contemporary methods of manpower training are the same and pointed towards enhancement of their efficiency and job productivity. The study recommends that operators within the Nigerian training institutional system must ensure that adequate methods of manpower training that is tend towards employees job specification, which will also help organizations to overcome future challenges, form the heart of their cardinal mission.
