Abstract

The spin Hall effect of light (SHEL) upon reflection and refraction of p and s waves in one-dimensional photonic crystal (1DPC) tunneling mode based on frustrated total internal reflection (FTIR) is investigated in this paper. We discuss the SHEL in three different cases based on both theoretical derivation and simulation. These results have demonstrated that the SHEL in 1DPC can be enhanced significantly when the designed 1DPC structure simultaneously satisfies both high reflection coefficient of p-wave and high transmission rate of s-wave. A transverse shift of 28.47 μm (equivalent to 45λin length) can be achieved in the structure without any amplification method, which is much larger than those previously reported in literature.
