Abstract
A simple, fast and sensible spectrophotometric method was developed for the determination of carvedilol. The method is based on the oxidative coupling reaction of the compound with phenothiazine in the presence of potassium dichromate as oxidant to form a stable pink-red color product showing maximum absorption at 551nm. Molar absorptivities are 1.625 ×104 l. Mol-1, cm-1. The Beer law has been complied with in a range from (1 to 12) ppm. This method has been successfully applied to carvedilol analysis in various pharmaceutical formulations.
