Abstract

Spectral line asymmetry is a signature of granulation in the stellar photosphere. Asymmetries are useful in providing information on photospheric velocity fields. In this paper, we will discuss about the spectral line profile asymmetries of Arcturus (α Boötes) based on the archive data taken from Ritter Observatory. From the analysis of line asymmetries of this star using the bisector method, we obtain variations of the shape of line asymmetries and the granulation velocities. The cause of these variations will be discussed.
