Abstract

Abstract Eight insecticide treatments were evaluated to determine their effects on green cloverworm, bean leaf beetle, corn earworm, and spiders. Insecticides were foliar-applied on 1 Sep. on ‘Essex’ soybean grown on the Joe Hicks farm in Richmond county, Va. Individual plots were six rows 80 ft long and spaced 3 ft apart. A randomized block experimental design with three reps was utilized. Each spray concentrate was applied with a CO2-powered backpack sprayer at 32 lb/in2 that delivered 30 gal of finished formulation per acre. Individual treatments were evaluated 1, 7, 14, and 21 days after application by comparing the number of pests and spiders per 25 sweeps in the treated plots to those in the untreated plots.
