Abstract
Lodzer Zeitung was the first newspaper in Łódź, established at the beginning of the second half of the 19th century. century, which over time had all the features of a modern press, as for those times. It was published in German and oriented towards contacts with other national and foreign newspaper editorial offices. It fulfilled its role at that time not only as an information medium for entrepreneurs, craftsmen and merchants about the economic situation, but also supported the German community of Łódź in the cultural and national dimension. This article presents the results of vocabulary analysis in certain types of texts and selected topics, often related to current historical events or everyday life. The analysis concerned local vocabulary in official texts; politics in telegram texts; in the field of specialized topics, and nomenclature. The article contributes and encourages further scientific exploration of the analyzed newspaper.
