Abstract

This article focuses on a comparison of American and Southeast Asian child rearing practices and the implications for child and youth care workers. Included are a discussion of “culture,” a comparison of specific child rearing practices and family relationships, and a discussion of factors that affect parent-care worker interaction. Also included are specific suggestions for care workers when working with both Southeast Asian children and youth and their parents.
