Sound Style and Style of Words in Bayan Budiman's Poetry: Stilistics Study

Abstract

Sound style and word style are essential elements in literary works, especially poetry. Sound style and word style are used by the author as a medium for conveying ideas, expression, beautifying a literary work and others. In line with this, the purpose of this study is to describe the style of sound and style of words contained in the poem Bayan Budiman. This research is included in the qualitative descriptive research. The research subject is the poem Bayan Budiman, while the object of this research is the style of sound and style of words. The method of data collection is done by reading poetry, after reading the poetry, it is followed by reading and note-taking techniques. The results of this study show that in the poem Bayan Budiman several sound styles are found in the form of vowels /a/, /i/, /u/ and consonants /m/, /t./ The dominant sound style that appears is vowel. Meanwhile, the word styles found were the words sani, baqa, mortal, old, and enci.
