Abstract
The synthesis and characterization of the neopentyl complexes of cadmium (CH 3) 3CH 2CCdE 2CNEt 2 (E S or Se) and the related mixed metal species (CH 3) 3CH 2CZn 0.5Cd 0.5Se 2CNEt 2 are reported. A single crystal X-ray structure determination on for (CH 3) 3CH 2CCdSe 2CNEt 2; the compound is dimeric. All of the complexes decompose to give the corresponding binary or ternary metal chalcogenides.
