Abstract
The response of bilinear hysteretic oscillators to non-white stochastic force is considered. A simple method is presented which utilises the dissipation-energy-balancing procedure and the equivalent linearisation technique to produce estimates for the response variance and the probability function of the energy of the oscillator. The predictions of the method compare well with digital simulation results.
