Abstract
In this talk, we will introduce a metallic grating structure with gradient index materials to obtain nearly total omnidirectional reflection, regardless of the polarization of incident wave and the impedance properties of the filled materials inside the grating. In addition, as the reflection phase between TE and TM wave impinging on the metallic grating structure is different, the proposed structure could be used to manipulate the polarization of light. More interestingly, by bending the straight metallic grating into a metallic grating ring, we find that the structure can shield electromagnetic wave with good performance, independent of the polarizations of light. All the phenomena are well demonstrated from theoretical analysis and numerical simulations.
