Abstract

This paper presents a solution to boundary shape optimization problems of elastic-plastic continua, taking into account material nonlinearity. An external work minimization problem is formulated under a volume constraint, and the shape sensitivity to design variables given without restricting the degrees of freedom of the boundary shape is derived. Additionally, a solution to this problem is presented by applying the traction method, which one of the authors has proposed as an approach to solving domain optimization problems.
