Abstract

AbstractMethyl methacrylate has been polymerized at different temperatures in water/isopropanol mixtures using sodium persulfate and sodium metabisulfite as the redox initiator system. The dependence of the rate of polymerization on the concentrations of isopropanol, initiator, and monomer, and on the reaction temperature was studied. The activation energy of the polymerization in different solvent mixtures was estimated from the temperature dependence of polymerization rate.
