Abstract
Abstract This paper contains discussions on: (1) the efficient use of nutrients available in the soil under an agroforestry system; (2) the effects of agroforestry practices on nutrient cycles; and (3) the optimization of nutrient cycles in agroforestry. The methods for the measurement of the concentration and availability in soil of N, P, S, K, Ca, Mg and Al, and soil acidity are described, as well as the methods for the diagnosis of Al toxicity in plants.
