Abstract

The purpose of the article is to study the impact of social media on the use of electronic resources in the educational environment, to determine their impact on the effectiveness of the educational process, and to develop recommendations for optimising the integration of social media into educational practices. Research methods. In order to effectively achieve the research goal, the methods of analysis and synthesis, generalisation of theoretical data, observation, and a systematic approach were used. All of this made it possible to more fully analyse and understand the impact of social media on the use of electronic resources in the learning environment. The scientific novelty lies in a systematic approach to studying the impact of social media on the educational environment, taking into account both positive and negative aspects of their use. The article presents new methods and recommendations that can be implemented in academic institutions to improve the educational process and enhance the quality of education. Conclusions. In summary, social media are powerful platforms for educational materials’ distribution. They make it easy to share information, organise group discussions and maintain constant contact between participants in the educational process. The use of such platforms facilitates the active exchange of knowledge and experience, which increases the overall level of learning. Social media also plays an important role in motivating students to study. They provide opportunities for self-expression, participation in communities of interest and immediate feedback. This creates favourable conditions for students to be actively involved in the educational process, which in turn has a positive impact on their academic performance. At the same time, there are certain challenges and risks associated with the use of social media in education. These include distractions, reduced concentration on learning, and cybersecurity risks. To overcome these challenges, it is necessary to develop and implement clear policies and strategies for managing the use of social media, including security measures, rules of conduct and ethical standards. The effective use of social media in the educational environment depends on a balanced approach that takes into account both its benefits and potential risks. Increasing digital literacy, developing appropriate policies and management strategies, and actively engaging students in the educational process through social media will help improve the quality of education and prepare students for the challenges of the modern world.
