Abstract
The article summarizes information about the activities of the Smolensk regional branch of the Union of Soviet Writers (SSP) in the post-war years. Publications of Smolensk authors, literary criticism are analyzed on the basis of the materials of the Smolensk Almanac, as well as authors' books of writers and archival documents. The dynamics of the literary situation can be traced in relation to the political and economic situation in the country and the region. The role of the head of the department N. Rylenkov in the development of the traditions of the Smolensk poetic school is characterized. The specifics of the «center-region» relations and their influence on the literary situation are revealed.
