Abstract
A novel analytical method was developed based on the combination of hollow fiber liquid-phase microextraction (HF-LPME) with smartphone-based sensing. Analytes were extracted from the sample headspace using HF-LPME. After the addition of reagents to the extracted phase, it was transferred into a lab-made detection cell and color sensing was performed using a smartphone. This innovative combination has the benefits of microextraction and smartphone-based sensing. The total phenol as an index of environmental contamination was selected as a test analyte. The method showed linearity 20 -300 μg L−1 with a detection limit of 8 μg L−1. Recoveries were greater than 85%. .
