Abstract
Traditional electric metering systems present numerous challenges, including bulky design, inaccurate readings, and the logistical hurdles of manual meter reading by going every house and prepare the bills manually. At present, power distribution companies take energy consumption readings by sending meter readers to every house, which may have mistaken during taking readings by human errors. Moreover, at the time of preparing bills they may blunder the full information and prepare wrong bills and dues. The solution for this problem is to take reading electronically and send energy consumption readings to the users and the companies by GSM technology. This work aims to develop a smart metering system that leverages SIM-based technology to deliver real-time energy consumption data to consumers and automate the billing process. proposed a system which will notify consumers automatically when balance become below a limit, it will further notify when balance become closed to empty, so that consumer can recharge soon to avoid disconnection. Also, consumers can recharge their account from their mobile phones. Therefore, the proposed system enhances efficiency, accuracy, and convenience in electricity consumption monitoring and management.
